Founded in 2012

Tony's Taphouse has hosted approx. 500 different people since its opening in 2012. There have been more late nights than it is possible to recall. It has been a joy to share great beer and food with awesome people, and long may it continue.

Barrel Aged dark beers are really what Tony's Taphouse is all about, and they are largely stored at 11⁰C (52⁰F) and poured at 12.5⁰C (55⁰F). There are over 700 different dark beers (approx. 1,400 total bottles/cans), of which 500 (approx. 1,000 total bottles/cans) or so are barrel aged, with United States breweries Side Project, Phase Three, Revolution, Goose Island, Anchorage, Private Press, Forager, Perennial, Fonta Flora, New Image, Toppling Goliath, Fremont, River North, Firestone Walker and many others, and Australian breweries Boatrocker, Bacchus and Hawkers, featuring heavily.

Don't despair if you are a Belgian or Sour/Lambic lover, because there are approximately 500 bottles available, including plenty of Cantillon and Alvinne from Belgium, a showcase of Australia's own Dollar Bill, and a minimum seven-year vertical of Tony's Taphouse's favourite Belgian Dark Ale, Trappistes Rochefort 10. Whilst Tony's Taphouse really does enjoy drinking and sharing India Pale Ales (single, double and triple), and thinks they are absolutely delicious, we consider them to be palate cleansers between the real, barrel aged, beers: in fact, they are not even allowed to be stored in the bar itself and are kept nearby in a colder fridge! We are slowly coming around to craft lagers, but they don't really play a role as other than palate cleansers. Finally, no beer night is complete without a journey into the wonderful world of Mead, and Tony's Taphouse generally has around 50 different flavoured varieties available from meaderies such as Pips, Schramm's, Superstition, Zymarium, Artivem, Moonlight, and the now closed Dysfunctional.

Tony's Taphouse scours beer social media and beer pages, searching for the great, the almost great, and the maybe next great, beers, mostly from the United States. We work through a network of friends and associates to get our grubby mitts on hard to access and rare beer, then ship it to Tony's Taphouse to share with others. If we aren't doing this, we can likely be found (when not travelling internationally and throughout Australia to breweries and bars) in a Sydney craft beer brewery, with a barrel aged stout and barley wine to share.

We look forward to welcoming old friends and new, so, if you are an experienced and fully dedicated craft beer lover visiting Sydney from overseas or interstate, please reach out. Preferably we would like to meet you somewhere else first, but on many occasions, we have hosted international heavy craft beer hitters without having first met them.
